BRUCKNER Symphony No. 4 in E-flat major, “Romantic”
Marking the 200th anniversary of Bruckner’s birth, this recording preceded a special performance by Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra in the composer’s hometown of Ansfelden, Austria for the 2024 International Bruckner Festival. “Bruckner’s music was deeply rooted in the traditions of his homeland,” Welser-Möst acknowledges, “but in many ways, his compositions were far ahead of his time. This may be one of the reasons why his music has not lost its appeal. It inspires audiences through a profound listening experience.” His Fourth Symphony nicknamed “Romantic,” is no exception.
Recorded live in Mandel Concert Hall on March 14, 16, and 17, 2024.
